Family Doughnuts
Family Doughnuts is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. sugar, 2 tbsp. melted shortening, 2 eggs, beaten, 4 c. sifted flour and 4 tsp. baking powder, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Add sugar to melted shortening.
Beat well.
Add eggs to sugar.
Sift dry ingredients together.
Add alternately with milk to sugar mixture.
Dough will be very soft.
Chill thoroughly until it can be rolled and cut.
Roll 1/4-inch thick and cut with doughnut cutter.
Fry in deep fat (360° to 370°).
Turn once. Drain on paper towels.
Eat plain or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
