English Toffee Bars
English Toffee Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 sticks margarine, 1 c. brown sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla extract, 1 egg yolk and 2 c. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Preheat oven to 350°.
Melt margarine and add to it the brown sugar, vanilla and egg yolk.
Beat until fluffy.
Add the flour and blend together.
Mixture will be quite thick.
Spread into a lightly greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and put back in oven for 5 minutes.
Remove from oven and sprinkle with nutmeats.
Cut while warm.
Makes about 2 dozen bars.
