Combine scalded milk, 1/4 cup sugar, salt and shortening.

Cool to lukewarm.

Soften yeast in lukewarm water.

Add to first mixture.

Stir in egg.

Add flour; work until smooth.

Put dough on floured board; let rest 10 minutes.

Mix together sugar and cinnamon.

Roll dough out into rectangular shape; brush with butter.

Sprinkle with some of the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Roll and cut slices 1-inch thick.

Put a generous amount of sugar on board.

Roll each slice until flat, 5 to 6-inch circle.

Put on greased baking sheet and let rise 30 minutes.

Bake at 300Β° for 12 minutes.
