Butter bread on one side and dice into 1/2-inch cubes.
Grate cheese.
In 2-quart buttered casserole, alternate layers of bread and cheese (4 layers).
Mix rest of ingredients.
Pour over bread and cheese.
Refrigerate overnight and bake at 350Β° for about 1 hour.
Yields 6 to 8 servings.
