Dutch Rusk
Dutch Rusk is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/4 c. melted lard, 1 1/2 qt. warm water, 1 c. sugar, 1/4 c. salt and 2 pkg. dry yeast, prepared in water-sugar mix, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Mix first 4 ingredients, then add flour to thicken slightly. Add the next 3 ingredients and mix.
Add flour until right for punching.
Lard sides of pan.
Knead a few minutes more.
Let rise 2 times.
Make into large 3-inch buns.
Let raise.
Bake at 350Β° and let cool.
Slice each bun in 2 or 3 slices.
Dry in low oven until crisp.
