Donuts or Rolls
Donuts Or Rolls is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 qt. milk, heated to scalding, 3/4 c. sugar, 2 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. lard (oleo) and 8 c. bread flour (approximately), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Dissolve sugar, salt and lard in hot milk in bowl.
Add water and beaten eggs.
Liquid should be very warm to touch.
Add 4 cups flour; sprinkle dry yeast over it.
Stir with wire whisk.
Add the rest of the flour; stir with big spoon.
Dough should be sticky but manageable.
Makes approximately 50 donuts.
