Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs and beat.
Add milk, then flour, sifted with salt, baking powder and spices.
Roll out on floured surface 3/8-inches; cut with doughnut cutter.
Let stand 15 minutes.
Fry in deep hot Crisco (375Β°); drain on paper towels.
Makes 3 dozen.
Can ice if desired.
