Divinity
Divinity is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. karo syrup (red label), 2 c. sugar, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. water and 2 egg whites, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Combine first 4 ingredients in saucepan.
Cook over medium heat, stir constantly until sugar is dissolved.
Cook without stirring to a hard boil stage (260°) or until a small amount of mixture forms a hard boil when tested in very cold water.
Just before syrup reaches 260°, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Pour 2/3 of the syrup slowly over whites, beating constantly. Return the other 1/3 syrup back to the medium heat for 2 to 3 more minutes.
Pour remaining syrup over whites and beat until whites hold shape.
Add vanilla.
Beat well.
Add nuts or cherries before pouring into a lightly buttered dish or drop by spoonful on wax paper.
