Boil together the sugar, syrup, salt and water to 260 degrees; soft crack stage on candy thermometer. Add to egg whites keeping syrup hot. Add vanilla and Jello. Beat until it holds a soft peak and begins to lose its gloss. Working quickly, drop by teaspoons onto waxed paper.
