Cream the shortening and sugar.
Add eggs; beat well. Dissolve cocoa in 1/2 cup of hot water.
Beat to a smooth paste. Add mixture to egg mixture.
Add milk and vanilla.
Sift soda and flour together and add to other ingredients; beat well.
Bake at 350Β° for 35 minutes or until cake tests done.
