Devil's Food Cake
Devil'S Food Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 c. sifted cake flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 c. butter and 2 1/2 c. brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
Cream butter until light and fluffy.
Add unbeaten eggs, one at a time, beating batter hard after each addition.
Melt the chocolate and add to the batter.
Add the flour and the buttermilk, alternating in thirds and stirring only slightly.
Add vanilla and boiling water.
Grease three 9-inch cake pans and dust with flour.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 375Β°.
Turn cakes upside-down on rack to cool.
