Deluxe Dog Bones
Deluxe Dog Bones is an easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. beef livers, 2 large eggs, washed, 1 c. low-fat cottage cheese, 1 1/2 c. wheat germ and 3 1/4 c. whole wheat flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Cut livers into 1-inch chunks and add 1 cup water.
Bring to a boil, cover and simmer about 5 minutes until no longer pink.
Drain off liquid and add water to make 1 cup.
Put livers in food processor; break in eggs (including shells).
Purée, adding reserved liquid as needed to keep mixture moving.
Scrape into bowl; mix in remaining ingredients.
Turn onto board and knead until not sticky.
Clean board; dust with flour.
Dust ball of dough with flour.
Roll out 1/4-inch thick.
Shape bones by hand or use cookie cutter.
Bake 1 hour at 300°.
If not hard when cooled, return to oven and bake 10 minutes longer.
Store in airtight container or freeze.
