Deer Steaks
Deer Steaks is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 to 3 lb. deer steaks, salt to taste, salt (to soak with), pepper to taste and 1 can cream soup (either onion, mushroom or celery), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Let frozen steaks thaw in water.
Rinse and soak in water for about 2 hours.
Rinse and examine steaks, cutting off any white elastic like grissle.
Cover with about 3 tablespoons salt and water.
Soak for about 2 more hours.
Rinse and soak in water 1 hour longer (or overnight).
Place in crock-pot with soup, salt, pepper, oil and water to make pot at least 2/3 full.
Mix well and let cook on high for about 4 hours or on low about 5 1/2 hours. The longer you soak the meat the better and the slower you cook the meat the better.
May also add chopped onions.
