Deep Dish Pizza
Deep Dish Pizza is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. loaf frozen bread dough, thawed, 4 c. shredded mozzarella cheese, divided, 1 1/2 lb. lean pork sausage, 1 1/2 tsp. each dried oregano and fennel seed, crushed and 3 cans (14 1/2 oz.) plum tomatoes, chopped and drained, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Grease a 14 x 2-inch pizza pan.
On a flour-dusted surface, roll dough to 16 inch circle.
Press into bottom and 1 1/2 inches up sides of pan.
Sprinkle with 3 cups of cheese.
Crumble sausage over cheese.
Top with oregano, fennel seed, tomatoes, mushrooms and remaining cheese.
Place in a 500° oven; immediately reduce heat to 400°.
Bake 40 to 50 minutes.
Remove pizza when golden brown.
