Combine all ingredients, except butter and vanilla.
Cook until thick.
Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla.
Pour into baked deep dish pie shell or 2 regular pie shells.
Top with meringue and bake in 375Β° oven about 10 minutes or until lightly brown.
