Date-Nut-Filled Cake
Date-Nut-Filled Cake is an easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. duncan hines deluxe carrot cake mix, 1 pkg. (8 oz.)pitted dates, chopped, 1 c. boiling water, 1/2 c. (1 stick) margarine or butter and 1/2 c. chopped pecans, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.

Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Grease and flour two 9 x 1 1/2-inch around layer pans.
Prepare, bake and cool cake as directed.
For filling and frosting, put dates, water, butter and sugar into a heavy saucepan.
Cook stirring constantly over medium heat until mixture thickens (about 8 minutes).
Remove from heat and add pecans.
Spread between cooled layers and on sides, top of cake.
Chill.
