Date Nut Chews
Date Nut Chews is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 eggs, 3/4 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. karo syrup and 1/2 tsp. almond extract, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Beat eggs, salt and almond extract.
Beat until light. Gradually beat in sugar and syrup.
Add dates and nuts.
Mix well. Fold in sifted flour.
Pour into 2 greased 8-inch square cake pans.
Bake at 375Β° for 20 to 25 minutes, until edges are brown. Remove from oven and, while hot, cut into 1 1/2-inch squares. Shape into small balls.
Roll in powdered sugar.
Makes 40 cookies.
