Date-Nut Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. chopped nuts, 1 c. cut up pitted dates, 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt and 2 tbsp. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Mix first 4 ingredients with a fork; add shortening and water. Let stand 20 minutes; heat oven to 350Β°.
Beat eggs with fork, add vanilla, sugar and flour, beating with fork.
Add date mixture, mixing to just blend.
Bake 1 hour and 5 minutes or until done.
Makes 1 loaf.
