Date Nut Bread
Date Nut Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. chopped nuts, 1 c. dates, chopped, 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/4 c. margarine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Combine nuts, dates, soda and salt in bowl.
Add shortening and boiling water; allow to stand 15 minutes.
Stir to blend. Beat eggs slightly and add to date mixture.
Do not overmix. Place in a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
Bake for 1 hour, or until done, at 350Β°.
Turn out onto a wire rack to finish cooling after it has been in pan about an hour.
