Date Nut Bread
Date Nut Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. dates, chopped, 1 1/2 c. boiling water, 1 egg, 3/4 c. sugar and 2 1/4 c. sifted flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Pour water over dates and let stand while preparing other ingredients.
Beat egg until light, adding sugar gradually. Sift together dry ingredients; add nuts.
Add chopped dates and flour mixture alternately to the egg mixture.
Stir in shortening and vanilla.
Pour into greased 10 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 1 hour.
