Date Bread
Date Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. dates, 1 c. boiling water, 1 tsp. soda, 1 c. sugar and 1 tbsp. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.
👨🍳 Instructions
Cut dates in pieces.
Put in bowl with 1 cup boiling water. Sprinkle soda over.
Let cool, then add sugar, shortening, sugar and egg.
Add date mixture.
Stir in flour and salt.
Fold in nuts. Bake 1 hour in a slow oven, about 325° to 350°.
Makes about 2 small loaves or 1 large loaf.
Can use raisins in place of dates.
