Crunchy Date Rounds
Crunchy Date Rounds is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 1/2 c. granulated sugar, 1/4 c. brown sugar, 1 egg and 1/2 c. chopped pitted dates, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Thoroughly cream shortening and sugars.
Add egg and vanilla; beat well.
Sift together dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture, blending well.
Stir in nuts and dates.
Drop from teaspoon into crushed flakes, rolling to coat well.
Place two inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
Top with walnut halves. Bake at 375Β° for 12 to 15 minutes, or until top springs back when lightly touched.
Cool before removing from pan.
Makes three dozen.
