Creamy Raisin Icing
Creamy Raisin Icing is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening (part butter), 2 1/2 tbsp. flour, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. milk and 3 c. sifted powdered sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Melt shortening; remove from heat.
Blend in flour and salt. Slowly add milk.
Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat.
Add slowly the powdered sugar and vanilla.
Add raisins. Beat until thick enough to spread.
Add cherries and nuts.
A good icing for spice layer cake.
