Peel onion; set in same pan as the meat and roast until fairly tender.

Cut meat and onion up fine.

Boil potatoes and turnip; dice.

Mix with meat.

Add salt and pepper.

Roll out pastry fairly thin (1/4-inch).

Cut into rounds the size of a saucer.

Put meat mixture in the center of each round.

Bring 2 opposite sides of pastry together in a join at the top and flute edges.

Brush with beaten egg.

Bake in hot 425Β° oven for 30 to 40 minutes.

This mixture will make several dozen pasties.
