Congo Squares
Congo Squares is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 3/4 c. sifted flour, 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2/3 c. shortening and 2 1/4 c. brown sugar (1 lb. bag), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Packed with nutrients and delicious flavors.
Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Melt shortening and add brown sugar.
Stir until well mixed.
Allow to cool slightly.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add dry ingredients, then nuts and chocolate chips. Pour into greased pan about 9 x 13 x 2-inch.
Bake at 350Β° for 25 to 30 minutes.
Cut into 2 x 2-inch squares when almost cool. Yields 48 squares.
