Collector's Cake
Collector'S Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. butter, 2 eggs, 2 c. unsifted all-purpose flour, 1 1/4 tsp. baking soda and 1 1/3 c. water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.

Cream butter and sugar in large mixer bowl.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat 1 minute at medium speed.
Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; add alternately with water to creamed mixture.
Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 8-inch or 9-inch layer pans.
Bake at 350Β° for 35 to 40 minutes for 8-inch layers; 30 to 35 minutes for 9-inch layers or until cake tester comes out clean.
Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans.
Cool completely; frost.
