Preheat oven to 350Β°.

Melt in a small pan 1/2 bag chocolate chips and 1/4 cup butter.

Set aside for use as the coating.

Sift flour and salt on waxed paper.

Beat together margarine, sugar, egg and vanilla.

Blend in flour mixture.

Stir in chocolate pieces (other 1/2 bag).

Shape mixture into "logs" which are 2-inches long and 1/2-inch in diameter.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes.

After cooling, dip each end into the coating and then the crushed walnuts.

Cool and serve. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen.
