Chocolate Cake
Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2/3 c. shortening, 2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. cocoa, 2 eggs, at room temperature and 2 c. cake flour, sifted, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Cream shortening (1/3 cup margarine and 1/3 cup Crisco).
Add sugar and blend well, then add cocoa and blend well.
Then add eggs and blend well.
Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. (To sour the milk, add 2 teaspoons vinegar to plain milk.)
Mix the milk (room temperature) and baking soda together well. Alternating between the milk and the flour mixture, add to the sugar, cocoa, egg and shortening mixture.
Then add the vanilla and boiling water.
Line the pans with wax paper and bake at 350Β° about 30 minutes.
