Grease and flour an 8-inch square pan.
Stir together egg, brown sugar and vanilla. Quickly stir in flour, soda and salt. Add nuts.
Spread in pan and bake at 350Β° for 18 to 20 minutes. Should be soft in center when removed from oven.
Do not overbake. Leave in pan and cut into 2-inch squares.
Makes 16 squares.
