Cherry Winks
Cherry Winks is an impressive dinner. Made with 5 c. corn flakes, 2 1/4 c. plain flour, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. baking soda and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Measure corn flakes; crush into coarse crumbs.
Set aside. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
Set aside. Measure margarine and sugar into large bowl; beat until very light and fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla.
Beat well. Add dry ingredients.
Mix until combined; stir in nuts, dates and the finely-cut cherries.
Shape level tablespoons of dough into balls. Roll in crushed corn flakes.
Place on greased baking sheets. Top each cookie with a cherry quarter.
Bake in moderate oven (375Β°) about 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
Remove immediately from baking sheet and cool on wire rack. Yield: about 5 dozen, 2 inches in diameter.
