Cream sugar and margarine until light and fluffy.

Add eggs, beating well after each.

Add flour and almond extract; spread evenly into greased jelly roll pan (15 x 10 x 1-inch).

Using a knife, mark off 24 squares in the surface of the batter.

Put 3 or 4 cherries from can of pie filling into the center of each square. Bake at 350Β° for 25 minutes, or until surface is lightly browned. Remove from oven; immediately dust generously with confectioners sugar.
