Cherry Slices
Cherry Slices is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 (16 oz.) cans cherry pie filling, 1 c. shortening, 1 3/4 c. sugar, 4 eggs and 1 tsp. vanilla, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Preheat oven to 350°.
Cream shortening; add sugar gradually. Add eggs one at a time, beating well.
Add vanilla.
Sift together the dry ingredients.
Gradually add to shortening mixture, beating well.
Spread in a greased 11 x 17-inch jelly roll pan.
Reserve a little more than a cup of batter.
Spread cherry pie filling to within 1/2-inch from edges of pan.
Place remaining dough by spoonfuls on top.
Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
