Cheese Straws
Cheese Straws is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/4 tsp. dry mustard, 1/8 tsp. cayenne and 1/3 c. butter or margarine, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Sift dry ingredients into bowl.
With pastry blender, cut in butter and half of the cheese until coarse and crumbly.
Add ice water.
Shape into a ball.
Roll out pastry 1/8 inch thick. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
Fold dough in half and roll out 1/8 inch thick again.
Cut pastry into 5 inches long and about 1/2 inch wide.
Sprinkle with celery seed.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 350Β° for 12 minutes or until light brown.
Makes about 5 dozen.
