Carrot Cake

Beat sugar, eggs and oil together.
Sift flour, baking soda, cinnamon, baking powder and salt together in another bowl.
Add to first mixture and beat very well by hand.
Add carrots and nuts; mix well.
Pour into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
Bake for 1/2 hour at 300°, then increase the temperature to 325° for another 35 minutes.
