Caramels is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. butter, 1 (1 lb.) pkg. brown sugar, dash of salt, 1 c. light corn syrup and 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Melt butter in heavy 3-quart saucepan over medium heat.
Add brown sugar, salt and corn syrup; mix well.
Add condensed milk gradually, stirring constantly.
Cook until mixture reaches 245Β° on candy thermometer, firm ball stage.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Pour into buttered 9 x 13-inch pan.
Let stand until cool.
Cut into squares.
Yield: 36 servings.
