Caramel-Nut Roll
Caramel-Nut Roll is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 c. light brown sugar, 1/2 c. sugar, 1 1/2 c. dark brown karo, 6 tbsp. butter or margarine and 1 c. evaporated milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Combine sugar and syrup.
Cook, stirring constantly, to 245° on candy thermometer.
Stir in butter.
Add milk slowly so mixture continues to boil and cook again to 245°.
Remove from heat.
Add vanilla and salt.
Pour into well buttered 9 x 13-inch pan until firm.
Spread walnuts on buttered waxed paper the size of pan. Turn candy (when cool) out on top of walnuts and press them in the candy.
Roll as a jelly roll.
Cut in sections and wrap in plastic wrap or waxed paper.
Slice to serve.
