Caramel Layer Squares
Caramel Layer Squares is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 14 oz. pkg. light caramels, 1/3 c. evaporated milk, 1 pkg. german chocolate cake mix, 3/4 c. butter or margarine, melted and 1/3 c. evaporated milk, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Grease and flour a 13 x 9-inch pan. Combine in heavy saucepan first 2 ingredients.
Cook over low heat stirring constantly until caramels are melted.
Keep warm. Combine in large bowl remaining ingredients except chocolate chips.
By hand stir until dough holds together.
Press 1/2 dough into pan.
Bake for 6 minutes.
Sprinkle chocolate chips and caramel mixture over cooked dough.
Then sprinkle rest of dough over that.
Bake 15 to 20 minutes.
Cool thoroughly.
Makes 3 dozen.
