Combine sugar, syrup, butter and salt in bowl.

Microwave on High 2 minutes, stir.

Microwave 3 minutes, stir after each minute.

Add vanilla and baking soda.

Repeat.

Shake well.

Microwave 30 seconds.

Add peanuts, if desired.
