Mix sugar, oleo and syrup.
Stir over heat until it boils. When it boils, cook 5 minutes without stirring.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and soda.
Pour over corn.
Bake in oven for 1 hour at 250Β°, stirring every 15 minutes.
Store in tight container.
