Cabbage Burger Bake
Cabbage Burger Bake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 small head cabbage (about 2 lb.), 6 slices bacon, 1 medium size onion, chopped (1/2 c.), 1 c. uncooked rice and 1 lb. ground beef, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Quarter and shred cabbage (you should have about 8 cups). Spread half in buttered, shallow, 12-cup baking dish.
Saute bacon just until fat starts to cook out in a large frying pan.
Remove; drain and set aside for later.
Stir onion and rice into bacon drippings in frying pan; cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until onion is soft and rice is lightly browned.
Spoon over cabbage in baking dish.
Shape ground beef and pork into 1 large patty in same frying pan.
Brown 5 minutes on each side, then break up into crumbs.
Cook, stirring often, a few minutes longer or until no pink remains.
Spoon over rice mixture in baking dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Top with remaining cabbage.
