Mix in a bowl dates, sugar, butter and boiling water.
Stir until the butter melts.
Stir in egg, baking soda, flour, salt and chopped nuts.
Put in a buttered loaf pan, 9 x 5-inches. Bake about 50 minutes at 350Β°.
