Buttermilk Biscuits

Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cream of tartar together.
Blend buttermilk and soda.
Cut shortening into dry ingredients until consistency of rice grains.
Gradually add milk to shortening mixture.

Roll out to 1/2 to 3/4-inch thickness.
Cut with 2-inch biscuit cutter.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 400Β° for 10 to 12 minutes.
