Buttercream Icing
Buttercream Icing is an easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. crisco shortening, 1 tsp. vanilla, 2 tbsp. milk, 1/2 c. butter or margarine and 4 c. sifted confectioners sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Cream butter and shortening with an electric mixer.
Add vanilla.
Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well on medium speed.
Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often.
When all sugar has been mixed in, icing will appear dry.
Add milk and beat at medium speed until light and fluffy.
Keep icing covered until ready to use.
Can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 weeks.
Re-whip before using.
Makes 3 cups.
