Heat oven to 350°. Grease baking pan. Melt cocoa and shortening in large saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat. Mix in sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread in 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. When done baking, cut in squares while still hot.
Makes 15 large brownies.
