Brown Bread
Brown Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. bran cereal, 1 1/2 c. sugar, 1 1/2 c. raisins or dates or prunes, 3 c. buttermilk and 3 tbsp. dark corn syrup, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Mix first 5 ingredients.
Let stand 5 minutes.
Add the rest; mix until flour is dampened.
Fill oiled cans a little more than half full.
Place in cold oven.
Bake at 325Β°.
Bake about 40 minutes.
Let set a little before you loosen them.
Run a serrated knife around the sides and they will slowly slide out.
Makes 7 cans.
Tastes better the longer it sets.
Can use more nuts, prunes and raisins.
