Brown Bread

Mix chopped dates, soda and boiling water and allow to cool. Add butter, sugar and unbeaten eggs (one at a time).
Mix date mixture with flour, salt, vanilla and nuts.
Grease and flour 5 (No. 2) gold-lined cans.
Fill half full.
Bake at 350Β° until done, 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Take bread out of cans when still warm.
