Brown Betty
Brown Betty is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. fresh bread crumbs, 1/2 c. butter, melted, 4 c. tart apples, peeled and sliced, 1/2 c. brown sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Bursting with flavor in every bite.
Combine butter and bread crumbs; toss until well blended, then set aside.
Prepare the apples, then toss with sugar, cinnamon, lemon rind and juice.
Layer the apples and crumbs in a buttered baking dish, beginning and ending with crumbs.
Cover the dish with foil.
Bake at 350Β° for half an hour; remove foil and continue baking another 10 minutes, or until the crumb topping is crisp and brown.
