Combine sugar, salt, cinnamon, butter, vanilla and egg.
Add milk slowly, stirring constantly.
Add bread cubes and raisins. Pour into well-buttered baking dish.
Set in pan of warm water and bake in moderate oven at 350Β° about 1 hour or until inserted knife comes out clean.
May be eaten warm or cold with cream or whipped topping.
