Heat oven to 350°.

Grease 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.

Combine butter and milk in saucepan.

Place on low heat until butter melts. Remove from heat.

Stir in sugar; add egg.

Stir until blended. Combine flour, baking powder and salt.

Stir into sugar mixture. Stir in vanilla and nuts.

Spread into pan.

Bake at 350° for 27 to 30 minutes or until pick inserted comes out clean.

Cool in pan.

Cut in squares.
