Bean Soup
Bean Soup is an moderately easy soup you can prepare in about 1 hour 22 minutes. Made with assortment of beans: pinto, red kidney, lentils, small white beans, green split peas, pearl barley, lima beans, black-eyed peas, ham hocks, . salt, qt. water and large onion, chopped, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Wash beans.
Add salt.
Add water and soak overnight.
Drain the beans.
Add 2 quarts of water and ham hocks.
Bring to a boil. Simmer 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
Add onion, tomatoes, chili powder, lemon juice, salt, pepper and garlic powder.
Simmer another 30 minutes.
